The much talked about and eagerly anticipated release Brahmastra made its way onto screens last week. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film, which has been the talk of the town for months now, arrived with immense expectations and high hopes. And it didn’t disappoint.
Though only being shown in 500 theaters in India because of heavy competition between multiple other Hollywood films releasing at around the same time, it did well enough to open on a strong note. With positive audience feedback and pre-booking rates as high as 60%, Brahmastra continued to grow over its opening weekend despite heavy competition from other Hollywood films releasing at around the same time.
In this box office report, we compare the opening week collections for Brahmastra to Ayan Mukerji’s other films. Not surprisingly, one of the widest released films managed to bring in rs. 170.20 cr in its first week – making it Ayan’s highest opening week grossing film. It even manages to surpass the total of his earlier films such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (rs 107.61 cr), and Wake up Sid (Rs 15.68 cr).
This being said, as there are no new releases competing for screens with it; Brahmastra seems unstoppable at the moment and has already seen a staggering increase over its second weekend run – collecting another Rs 50cr+. In fact – if this continues – experts predict that BRAHMASTRA will continue to see an increase in numbers leading up until next Friday (3rd) when Avengers: Endgame comes out!
