Last week saw the release of Karthikeya 2, the sequel to Chandoo Mondeti’s 2014 Telugu film, starring Nikhil Siddhartha, Anupama Parameswaran and Anupam Kher. It was met with positive reviews from its audience. Business–wise, it has experienced an increase in growth due to the lackluster performance of more mainstream films in recent times. Notably, it is also doing surprisingly well abroad in international markets.
Last Friday saw the release of Karthikeya 2, which in its opening weekend at the North American box office managed to make an impressive collection of Rs. 8.03 cr. This amount came from 120 screens across U.S.A and 2 screens in Canada, yielding Rs 7.97 cr. and Rs 6.75 lakhs respectively – indicative of the film’s healthy performance over the weekend!
The success of Kartikeya 2 is currently clear, as moviegoers continue to flock to it in droves. The vast majority of major releases have failed to measure up, and trade pundits agree that the box office take of this Telugu film is likely to swell further during its initial week of exhibition.
