Liger [Hindi] had a fairly average day on Saturday; the turnout was decreased but only to a small degree, generating a box office revenue of 4.25 crores*. Although this figure wasn’t necessarily predicted prior to its release, the steady climb of success experienced by the Telugu version gave way to this slight decrease in attendance.
After collecting Rs. 10 crores (including a paid preview of Rs. 1.25 crores), the Vijay Deverakonda starrer action film has not achieved the ideal collections of Rs. 12 crores that it required in order to take a chance at earning around Rs. 40-50 crores in total lifetime profits. But due to the India-Pakistan T-20 match on Sunday, the box office success may be hampered even further, preventing it from achieving its original potential.
Karthikeya 2 [Hindi] continues to move steadily along its path towards the ‘crore club’. Saturday’s collection of Rs. 1.50 crores* marks an impressive jump from its Friday numbers of Rs. 0.82 crore, indicating that the film has indeed been able to connect with its target audience – even if in limited numbers. The collections now stand at Rs. 21.50 crores*, and while similar numbers are likely to be maintained on Sunday, this is not a cause for concern as long as it can manage to sustain steady viewership levels over time.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
