Last Friday saw the release of the Karan Malhotra directed movie Shamshera, starring Ranbir Kapoor in dual roles along with Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. While the movie was much promoted and released in numerous theatres, it failed to deliver in terms of performance at the box office – far from the expectation of an opening bang.
The film has performed remarkably similar to its domestic box office collection in the overseas market of U.A.E/G.C.C, where it has earned AED 1,652,850 [Rs. 3.58 cr.] during the opening weekend. However, when compared to other previous releases, Shamshera has experienced massive underperformance in this territory.
Going ahead, it is improbable for the film business to witness substantial expansion. Market analysis suggests that the business of Shamshera will stay low-key in the coming days.
