At the box office, two southern films are performing oppositely: Liger (Hindi) is experiencing a steady drop in audience numbers, whereas Karthikeya 2 (Hindi) continues to attract viewers. Although Liger has been unable to secure any positive response yet, it seems that at least some kind of footfall is still coming in for Karthikeya 2.
On Tuesday, the box office figures of Liger (Hindi) clearly revealed a drop in its earning as it was only able to garner Rs. 1.25 crores*. Dharma Productions had pulled out all the stops and given their film starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey, a fitting platform by making sure it had maximum screen presence at multiplexes and single screens across the country. Yet, it seemed that moviegoers weren’t convinced by the end product; a fact made obvious with its current cumulative collection which stands at a mere Rs. 16.50 crores*.
It’s truly remarkable that a relatively low budget film like Karthikeya 2 (Hindi) is making a huge impression at the box office. Despite having not many people knowing its producers, directors, and lead actors in the industry, it has managed to garner Rs. 24.82 crores* through mere word of mouth with Rs. 0.60 crores* rolling in on Tuesday too. And because there isn’t much competition at present, its expected third week could easily surpass the Rs. 26 crore mark while attaining lifetime collections of over Rs. 30 crores – proving this unanticipated success was far from luck!
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
