On Friday, it was films of all genres that brought people to both multiplexes and single screens. JugJugg Jeeyo was the previous release of the week while Rocketry and Om were the new ones. Amongst them all, the Karan Johar–produced family–friendly movie obtained the best collections. The other two did well with their target audiences as anticipated.
Concerning JugJugg Jeeyo, the movie was able to sustain itself on the second Friday, collecting Rs. 3.03 crores. This was indeed essential for a good potential for growth in the weekend. Furthermore, the increasing amount of shows bode well for the film, bringing its total collection to Rs. 56.69 crores, with the expected goal of surpassing Rs. 75 crores lifetime.
Om, the newest Bollywood release of the week, had performed beyond expectation, accumulating an impressive Rs. 1.51 crores. As stated in a prior column, the prognosis for this movie and Rocketry had been projected at a cautious Rs. 75 lakhs – Rs. 1 crores, due to the unpredictability that has descended on the box office in 2022 and its extraordinary behaviors. Had Om been released in 2019, it was anticipated that the film would have earned a start of Rs. 4-5 crores; however, presently it is the single screens that are playing the most substantial role in Aditya Roy Kapur’s movie’s success.
Rocketry has been immensely appreciated from all sides, with some saying it’s easily one of the most lauded films of the year. Its target audiences have acclaimed it similarly to The Kashmir Files. While its box office collections have not been up to par with its cinematic merits, what can be seen from this point forward is a good increase from today and onward. It wouldn’t be astonishing if Madhavan’s feature film ultimately ended up doubling its Friday box office receipts on Saturday.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
