Another Friday and another unsuccessful weekend for Bollywood film premieres. Normally, this type of a movie would open to about 8-10 crores but instead they’ve opened around 3 crores each (Runway 34, Jersey, Attack). It seems this Jayeshbhai Jordaar is going down the same path; it’s just barely managed to open at Rs. 3.25 Crores with little expectation that anything will change over time.
One way or another, people don’t seem interested in seeing this film despite the trailer – though not making things worse than they already are isn’t really something you can do either… With a social subject mixed with comedy and drama surrounding it, it seems like this was just never meant to happen because no matter what we try nobody cares enough to see the movie so here we are doing nothing but waiting until time finally decides what’ll happen next.
Meanwhile, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has steadily remained on top of the box office. It collected Rs. 3.25 crores* on Friday, which is just about half what it had made last Monday when it opened with Rs. 7 crore*. This does show a steep decline from its initial release; but it could be worse – having only dropped by one crore from Thursday’s collection to make 4.5 crore*, KGF: Chapter 2 [Hindi] appears to have found footing at last after two days of losses because even though occupancy rates were down*, people are going out to see it nonetheless because it currently ranks as the number one film for attendance over other big name releases this week.* As for My Own Private Idaho? Well I’ll say that reviews don’t matter so long as we keep watching!
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
