Box Office: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens quite well as predicted, will have a touch and go with Rs. 100 Crore Club entry over the weekend

Early predictions predicted that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would open at Rs. 27-Rs.30 crores range, but it actually opened at Rs. 27.50 crores instead – which was expected because advance bookings for this movie were great from the beginning. This wasn’t surprising though because even before its release, there were lines outside theaters showing signs of success; especially where IMAX and Premium 3D screens are available nationwide, they nearly always sold out early on in the day!

Other than these theater screenings, however, attendance seemed to be decent overall considering how today’s opening weekend gross was near $27 million worldwide (though not close to what most Marvel movies earn). Nonetheless though the first day went fantastically well! It seems like audiences are warming up to newer characters such as Doctor Strange who could potentially make some money once people get more familiar with him (especially if he is portrayed again or joins another movie).

What remains to be seen is whether or not Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can make Rs. 100 Crore Club this weekend. It would certainly be challenging because Spider-Man: No Way Home, another popular movie, debuted with Rs. 32.67 crore and grossed Rs. 108 crore over the holiday season – twice what Doctor Strange did on its first day or opening weekend for that matter right now though, things are looking up for the Marvel blockbuster thanks to KGF: Chapter 2 [Hindi] coming out today as well, which will undoubtedly take some of its box office earnings; but ultimately fate rests in how well it performs this upcoming Sunday!
