Bollywood is facing the heat, and from all possible sides at that. Yesterday began what will surely be a period of tough times for Bollywood – because many states declared that theaters will close for about two weeks to come due to recent tragedies. This decision isn’t going to make things easy on those who are used to having something fun to do this weekend, but it’ll only continue until there’s no chance of another incident happening.
Angrezi Medium is going to suffer the worst consequences when it comes out tomorrow. It was supposed to come out today but because of this closure all over Delhi, it couldn’t be released as scheduled; instead coming out tomorrow. Because of how well Hindi Medium did there, we are predicting a similar fate for Angrezi Medium – only this time even worse since these are areas where theaters are closed down now too. The film still managed to make $4 million dollars on its first day with other countries making money from the distribution rights and projections about what would happen if things were normal – but now that they’re not…I don’t know how well Angrezi will do without good reception or people being able to see it.
It seemed like everything was going wrong for Baaghi 3 when it saw a huge decrease in earnings from its second Friday. One of the key contributors to this decrease was the shutting down of cinemas due to movie theatre bans and other health scares across India. Thankfully, Rs.2 crores* were added onto what had already been made- making the film’s current earnings stand at Rs.92.67 crores*. With uncertainties about how many theatres will remain open over the next few weeks–one can only wait and see whether or not Baaghii 3 reaches Rs. 100 Crore mark before another week passes by.*
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
