Yesterday, we witnessed the release of Amitabh Bachchan – Emraan Hashmi starrer Chehre. Unfortunately, this opening weekend started out slowly with predictions indicating that it would only worsen from here onwards. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar’s Bellbottom continues to do well at the box office despite having been released earlier this year.
Reports indicate that Chehre was able to generate Rs. 40 lakhs on Day 1, a rather mediocre opening that is currently being attributable to the low-key reviews and the ongoing Covid-19 protocol which has greatly diminished occupancy rates in theatres. Bellbottom -which received positive feedback from its audience-continues its run managing to rake in double of what Chehre did on Day 1. In fact, Bellbottom was able to generate Rs. 80 lakhs on Day 9 already.
Currently, based on performance and predictions; Chehrra is facing an uphill battle if it wants people in theatres for it’s showings because there are other movies out there with higher ratings than this one (i.e., Box Office Diaries), but Bellbottom is likely to see growth over this weekend when families go out and watch movies together again at theaters across India.
