The very successful Brahmastra opened well during its first weekend with approximately RS. 16.5 crores received (taking into account the southern versions). The movie has also done well since then and people are coming in on regular days of the week, especially when theatres have reduced rates for tickets – from around Rs. 200-300 to about Rs. 100-150 per ticket price drop, which is still considered expensive for most people and so not too many come inside during those times when it costs less than half of what it usually does at weekends.
There was hope that Brahmastra would do much better than these numbers but considering everything else being released right now – mostly disappointing fare like Lipstick under My Burkha or Thugs of Hindostan – this is an accomplishment worth celebrating as it means people are appreciating quality cinema even if they don’t come out all the time because attendance doesn’t always mean success.
Moreover, one must keep in mind that the fourth day of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer Brahmastra is higher than the first day for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. This movie made Rs.14.11 crores on its opening day whereas Brahmastra has surpassed it by taking in Rs 18.97 crores even after a significant weekend – which is no small feat when you take into consideration what it takes to maintain such momentum throughout weekdays following as this will determine if the film achieves lifetime success or not.
