Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra, which garnered Rs. 170 crores after a successful first week. It had made Rs. 9.25 crores this past Sunday (the seventh day of release) taking its total earnings to around Rs. 170 crores so far. The weekday drops were quite high – but strong opening weekend figures ensured that Brahmastra would eventually cross the mark for entering the Rs. 200 crore club nationally before anything else happened. This means that over the coming two days, it would make about Rupees (Rs.) 7 lakhs each day – then go on to make about Rupees (Rs.) 30 lakhs in just two days if it wants to reach these profits again next week!
Out of the Rupees 170 crores, Rupees 150 crores came from Hindi-Dubbed while the remaining 20 crores came from the dubbed versions released in other languages. In just two days, Brahmastra will overtake Dhoom 3 to become one of the most successful films of this year behind The Kashmir Files. However unlike Dhoom 3, Brahmastra had a much higher production budget and as such wasn’t able to generate similar earnings across all markets.
Even though there was a considerable jump over weekends, there were significant fall rates on weekdays and trends indicate that this pattern might persist until another major blockbuster is released soon; since audience reception hasn’t been very negative but rather uncertain or undecided about the film.
