Bachchan Paandey, a movie starring Akshay Kumar among others, did not screen in many theaters due to his fame. Despite being fewer than other films released at the same time, it made more money per theater. In comparison to The Kashmir Files starring Anupam Kher and having higher theater attendance rates when looking at total revenue generated per property – Bachchan Paandey performed better because some shows were completely sold out.
Yes, the number is quite good considering all factors – but this biggie needed a start of Rs. 20 crore (at least) to make an impactful debut despite stiff competition. Add to that Holi celebrations which led to many theaters opening late and we’re looking at an estimated Rs. 23-25 crore opening day, which would’ve been spectacular!
Of course, these are what-ifs since there’s still time before anything major happens; but things will really heat up come Friday when two major releases open [Ram Charan and Jr NTR]. All in all for now, the first near-immediate milestone for Sajid Nadir’s venture will be crossing Rs. 50 crores during its first weekend release period – something it can easily do if it earns around 13.25 crore rupees from its opening day alone…but again, there are other variables affecting its performance as well so stay tuned!
