क्या है खाटू श्याम जी के बाणों का रहस्य ?
बात महाभारत काल की है जब कौरव और पांडवो में भीषण युद्ध चल रहा था, और युद्ध में श्री कृष्ण का साथ पाकर पांडव युद्ध में विजय की स्थिति में थे, अपनी पराजय की स्थिति देखकर कौरव सेना हतोत्साहित हो रही थी, उन्हें किसी ऐसे महान योद्धा की आवश्यकता थी जो पलक झपकते ही युद्ध की स्थिति को बदलने की शक्ति रखता हो लेकिन उन्हें ऐसा कोई योद्धा नहीं मिल रहा था,

तभी एक दिन घटोत्कच के पुत्र बर्बरीक ने यह घोषणा कर दी कि महाभारत के युद्ध में जो भी पक्ष पराजय की तरफ जा रहा होगा मैं उसके तरफ से युद्ध में भाग लूंगा, क्योंकि बर्बरीक की माता ने उन्हें को हमेशा यही सिखाया था कि तुम्हें हमेशा कमजोरो का ही साथ देना चाहिए और युद्ध में जो पराजय हो रहा हो वही कमजोर होता हैं, अपनी माता के सिखाएं हुए ज्ञान की वजह से बर्बरीक कौरवों का साथ देने के लिए मजबूर थे,
बर्बरीक इतने शक्तिशाली थे कि यदि वो कौरवों की तरफ से युद्ध में भाग लेते पांडवों का हारना निश्चित था, और जब पांडव हार रहे होते हैं तो बर्बरीक को पांडव का साथ देना पड़ता, इसी तरह से महाभारत का युद्ध जीवन भर चलता ही रहता और यह कभी खत्म ही नहीं होता, बर्बरीक को इतना शक्तिशाली इसलिए माना जाता था क्योंकि उनके पास तीन मायावी तीर थे, जिसे उनकी माता ने उनकी भक्ति से खुश होकर उन्हें वरदान में दिया था,

तीर इतनी शक्तिशाली थे कि बर्बरीक चाहते तो सिर्फ एक ही तीर में पूरे महाभारत युद्ध को समाप्त कर सकते थे, ये बात जब श्री कृष्ण को पता चली तो वह काफी चिंतित हो गए,,क्योंकि पांडव धर्म के साथ थे और धर्म का विजय होना बहुत आवश्यक था, इसलिए वह बर्बरीक के पास गए और उसे समझाया कि मैंने आपके तीरंदाजी की अनेक कथाएं सुनी है क्या आप मुझे भी कुछ दिखा सकते हैं, इस पर बर्बरीक ने श्री कृष्ण के सामने हाथ जोड़ें और उत्तर दिया अवश्य माधव किंतु आप क्या देखना चाहते हैं, आप स्वयं बता दीजिए, इस पर श्री कृष्ण जवाब देते हैं यदि आप इस पेड़ के सभी पत्ते में अपने सिर्फ एक बाण से छेद कर दें तो मैं जानू
इतना सुनने के बाद बर्बरीक अपने तरकश से एक तीर निकालते हैं और तीर चला देते हैं, बर्बरीक का सिर्फ एक तीर बिना पेड़ की टहनियों काटे सभी पत्ते में छेद करता जा रहा था, इसी बीच श्रीकृष्ण ने उस पेड़ के एक पत्ते को अपने पैर के नीचे जानबूझकर छुपा लिया, लेकिन श्री कृष्ण तब हैरान हो गए जब उन्होंने देखा कि वो तीर सभी पत्तों में छेद करने के बाद श्री कृष्ण के पैरों के पास आकर रुक गया है,और वहां से हटने का नाम नहीं ले रहा है, तभी बर्बरीक श्री कृष्ण के सामने हाथ जोड़ते हैं और कहते हैं कि हे माधव मैंने अपने तीर को केवल पत्तो में छेद करने का आदेश दिया है, इसलिए कृपया करके पत्ते के ऊपर से आप पैर हटा लीजिए, और जैसे ही श्री कृष्ण पत्ते के ऊपर से पैर हटाते हैं वैसे ही वो तीर पत्ते में छेद कर वापस बर्बरीक के पास लौट जाता है, यह देखने के बाद श्री कृष्ण और घबरा जाते हैं कि यदि बर्बरीक ने युद्ध में कौरवों की तरफ से भाग लिया तो पांडवों की पराजय तो निश्चित है

जिसके बाद श्री कृष्ण बर्बरीक को युद्ध की स्थिति से अवगत कराते हैं और धर्म अधर्म का ज्ञान देकर उनसे युद्ध में भाग न लेने की विनती करते है, पर बर्बरीक कहता है कि मैंने अपनी माता को वचन दिया है इसलिए युद्ध में जो भी हार रहा होगा मैं उसका साथ अवश्य दूंगा, कोई उपाय ना देखकर श्री कृष्ण वहां से चले जाते हैं और अगले दिन ब्राह्मण का भेष बनाकर बर्बरीक के पास आते हैं, और दान में उनका सिर मांग लेते हैं,
कहा जाता है कि बर्बरीक श्री कृष्ण को पहचान गए थे, पर उन्होंने धर्म की विजय हेतु खुशी के साथ अपने सिर को काट कर श्रीकृष्ण को दे दिया था, जिससे प्रसन्न होकर श्री कृष्ण ने उन्हें कलयुग में खाटू श्याम के नाम से पूजे जाने का वरदान दिया था।

After listening to this, Barbarik takes out an arrow from his quiver and shoots the arrow, only one arrow of Barbarik was piercing all the leaves without cutting the branches of the tree, meanwhile Shri Krishna took a leaf of that tree with his foot. Deliberately hid below, but Shri Krishna was surprised when he saw that the arrow stopped near Shri Krishna’s feet after piercing all the leaves, and was not taking the name of moving from there, then barbaric Shri folds hands in front of Krishna and says that O Madhav I have ordered my arrow to pierce only the leaves, so please remove your feet from the top of the leaf, and as soon as Shri Krishna removes the feet from the top of the leaf Similarly, the arrow pierces the leaf and returns to Barbarik, after seeing this, Shri Krishna gets more nervous that if Barbarik participated in the war on the side of the Kauravas, then the defeat of the Pandavas is certain.

After which Shri Krishna informs Barbarik about the situation of war and by giving knowledge of religion and unrighteousness, he pleads with him not to participate in the war, but Barbarik says that I have promised my mother, so whoever is losing in the war I will definitely support him, seeing no solution, Shri Krishna leaves from there and the next day disguises as a Brahmin, comes to Barbarik, and asks for his head in charity.
It is said that Barbarik had recognized Shri Krishna, but for the victory of Dharma, he happily cut his head and gave it to Shri Krishna, pleased with which Shri Krishna blessed him to be worshiped in the name of Khatu Shyam in Kalyug. Had given.
