On Diwali day, the spectacular movie Sooryvanshi released nationwide and became one of the most popular movies ever made. Despite the hype around this expensive blockbuster film, it managed to collect Rs. 180.47 crore by Monday November 22nd – even with pandemic restrictions set in place; fans and critics alike wonder if it will break its own record by surpassing 200 crores! To find out what traders think about these things we talked to them.
Taran Adarsh, an analyst for trade analysis said, It’s a bit too early right now. It depends on many factors. For example, it is doing very well so far and the weak opposition Bunty Aur Babli 2 has been extremely helpful because they never would’ve even seen or heard of this film otherwise. Then Satyameva Jayate 2 will release on Thursday, November 25th followed by Antim – The Final Truth on Friday November 26th; these are big productions with an already established audience base which means fewer showings available to Sooryavanshi. Then there’s also screens and showtimes that play into everything.
He continued, So whether or not it reaches the Rs. 200 crore mark will depend on how many showings there are in Week 4 and how much competition Sooryavanshi faces from Satyameva Jayate 2 and Antim – The Final Truth which may give off a larger range of content. Trade Expert Komal Nahta added, There’s still some chance that it’ll reach Rs. 200 crore because these two movies (Satyameva Jayate 2 and Antim – The Final Truth) are more mass-oriented. Akshaye Rathi agreed adding his own insight to the story, I’m just going to go with RS. 200 crores being out of reach because both Satyameva Jayate 2 and Antim – The Final Truth would take up most of the screen time this Friday.
