Who owns Alfa Romeo? Ask any car enthusiast and they will say Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). This leads us to wonder, why has no other company bought the cars in high demand even after the release of alluring new models such as Giulia & Stelvio? Maybe because FCA is a large international corporation who invests heavily in R&D resulting in phenomenal flagship products.

A name that resonates much stronger with people globally than it ever did back when only Italians could purchase them. Or maybe because according to automotive analysts, FCA has done an excellent job at producing both appealing cars while maintaining strict quality control standards.

What company did Alfa Romeo become a part of after being bought in 2007? Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles has owned Alfa Romeo for more than ten years now. Nonetheless, the automaker remains true to its roots with cars like the 4C Spider and Giulia. These two offer an insight into what makes Alfa Romeo so special. As one of the world’s largest carmakers, this takeover made it possible for Alfa Romeo to produce stunning luxury automobiles such as these two models which are located in Barrington.

    The History of Alfa Romeo

When Cavaliere Ugo Stella purchased shares of the Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, Alfa Romeo was born. The company’s acronym came from its original name – A.L.F.A – and it remained to be incorporated into this new one at some point in time (1932-1986) when it had become a state-holding company in Italy.

In February of 2007, Fiat officially merged with Alfa Romeo by acquiring many assets such as factories and brands including Maserati, Ferrari, Autogerma and Lancia just to name a few of them all under the newly formed organization Fiat Group. They later renamed themselves Fiat Chrysler Automobiles or simply known now as FCA – while still being responsible for making Alfas branded cars today but they are also associated with brands other than just it.

    Alfa Romeo the Journey

Established in 1910, Alfa Romeo never lost the essence of its roots – Italy. Known for its affinity for luxury cars and design, Alfa Romeo is one of the most trusted manufacturers in its industry. Initially created by a group of anonymous individuals who wished to avoid public scrutiny, the company grew rapidly within only three years due to its quality products and under-the-radar name. The first automobile made by Alfas last year was called The Horse.

A company founded by a Neapolitan entrepreneur in 1915, who renamed the firm after himself-Nicola Romeo. His own very first model was such an advanced automobile compared to what had been done before that he named it ‘Alfa’. But soon enough, Nicola’s business prospered because of the flourishing and booming industries around Naples- both oil industry and construction; this allowed him to set up his second factory there too.

The year 1920 marks the date when Bertone finally gave up from any formal competition with Romeo; this is when all Alfa Romeos were designed by Carlo Anderloni. And so for some time there was no problem about where new models were going to come from!

Who Owns Alfa Romeo | Who Makes Alfa Romeo

Presently, Stellantis is the present owner of Alfa Romeo. You may be wondering what is the meaning of Stellantis; it derives from a Latin verb – stello, which means to brighten with stars. The meaning is so true- just as its cars are! Now you know who owns Alfa Romeo; but there are still many questions running through your head….Right? Don’t scratch your head any longer if you haven’t heard much about Stellantis before.

A multinational joint corporation between the Italian-American company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the French PSA Group, one year after FCA was acquired by Groupe Renault – these three companies combined create something we’ve never seen before and call themselves Stellantis.

Now don’t scratch your head further if you heard little about Stellantis before. Stellantis is a multinational joint corporation between the Italian-American company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and the French PSA Group.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is a joint venture company comprised of Italian automaker Fiat and American producer Chrysler. Founded by Walter Chrysler in 1952, through innovation and progress, the company has flourished as one of America’s best car producers.

    Who Owns Alfa Romeo

However, due to the slump in 2008-2010, all car manufacturers were struggling financially; this includes Chrysler. In 2009, Chrysler filed for bankruptcy and was bailed out by the UAW pension fund with support from both the U.S. and Canadian governments as well as Fiat on behalf of Italy’s government holding company.

By 2014, Fait S.P.A., now the owner of Alliander – makers of Fiats – purchased all shares previously held by the UAW Pension Fund; also Chrysler is considered one of its subsidiaries hence why it has been labeled in parenthesis next to French PSA Group’s Alfa Romeo ownership stake at 40%. To fully understand who really owns Alfa Romeo we need to examine what makes up Fiat Chrysler Automobiles since they own 50% of Stellatis; while France’s French PSA Group holds onto the other 50%.

    The Alfa Romeo Distinction

Despite FCA acquiring Alfa Romeo, the automaker has made sure to not stray away from its Italian roots. In fact, drivers of both the Giulia Quadrifoglio and the Stelvio have witnessed remarkable advancements made by FCA within the company year-by-year since 2017. These two cars are giving people what they want – great performance at an even greater price tag – which FCA make it so they’re taken care of for years after purchase thanks to their Premium Care plan.

History of Alfa Romeo | Who Makes Alfa Romeo

ALFA stands for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili. It translates to Anonymous Factory that produces Cars or Anonymous Car-Making Factory. This so called anonymous company began making cars back in 1910, long before the term had any negative associations. Founder Nicola Romeo put his name on the front of this famous car-making factory and started producing military vehicles at the beginning of World War II. Today, ALFA Romeo builds luxurious automobiles which are popular among both driving enthusiasts and those who want a classy ride; they’re also legendary because they’ve won more than 4 World Championships titles in Formula One racing.

As expected, both Fiat and Ford showed an interest in acquiring the Alfa Romeo. However, it was Fiat who eventually acquired it due to guarantees given from them regarding safeguarding jobs of Italians – the production side that controls 70% of car parts for luxury brands – as well as thus clearing the way for further acquisition of other luxury brands by them such as Maserati and Ferrari. Once more a year passed, during which time Fiat had successfully restructured themselves into four divisions along with two subsidiary companies each; one dealing with powertrains and one dealing with engineering.

    • Fiat Automobiles S.p.A.,
    • Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A.,
    • Lancia Automobiles S.p.A.
    • Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles S.p.A.

The group formerly known as ALFA ROMEO changed its name to F.I.A.T A.LANCIA INDUSTRIALE SPA (Fiat Group Automobiles). This change occurred in 1986 with the company being fully integrated into FIAT, or formally Fiat-Alfa Lancia Industriale SPALCiPESPA – under which both Alfa Romeo and Lancia are now seen as sub-brands.

One thing that all fans should take pride in is how Alfa Romeo has been pivotal to car racing history since its early days in 1923 when then-driver Enzo Ferrari took on a dual role for the team – driving but also managing everything behind-the-scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly between races before he went out again. The experience gained from this helped pave the way for what would eventually become one of the most iconic sports car brands of today – Ferrari

Race in which Alfa Romeo has participated

Alfa Romeo is a force to reckon with in the racing world. They have participated in all sorts of racing including Formula One, other formula car races, rallies and cross-country events, as well as Grand Prix racing, touring car races or any race you can think of.

    Annual Sale of Alfa Romeo

No matter what you call it – saturation, competition – the numbers do not lie. Over the past few years sales of this particular brand have been declining, while other brands in its niche continue to skyrocket (and still no end in sight). For example if 10 people want to buy one car, 9 of them might choose a competitor instead because it just seems like a better deal right now.

Even though their recent run was less than expected for this auto manufacturer; the CEO had made a statement about introducing something new every year until 2026 and an all-electric car by 2027. This could be just what those Alfa Romeo lovers need!
