After being much discussed and long–awaited, War finally hit theaters yesterday. Led by Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff under the direction of Siddharth Anand, the film released to a massive 4000 screens across India. Advance booking five days prior to its launch date had promised an outstanding opening day collection, making it clear that War will start with a boom.
With its Day 1 collection of Rs. 53.35 cr, War has made a tremendous debut and achieved the distinction of becoming Hrithik Roshan’s biggest opener to date! Comparing this figure with the opening day business generated by some of the actor’s prior films like Bang Bang (Rs. 27.54 cr), Krrish 3 (Rs. 25 cr), Agneepath (Rs. 23 cr), Super 30 (Rs. 11.83 cr) and Kaabil (Rs. 10.43 cr), it is clear that War is leaps ahead in terms of box office numbers.
War is poised to take full advantage of the upcoming extended weekend, with only a minimal amount of competition in some markets from Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Joker. Advanced ticket sales have been incredibly promising, giving experts hope that the movie’s business could skyrocket past Rs. 100 crore over the next few days.
