Last week, War from Yash Raj Films, directed by Siddharth Anand with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff as the leading actors was unleashed to a resounding response from viewers. Its launch saw tremendous success on the first day and only continued to soar through its opening weekend and over the subsequent days.
War had a massive opening week at the box office, collecting Rs. 235.35 cr. It is now officially the second highest all-time opening week grosser of India cinema, coming in behind Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that collected Rs. 247 cr and above Sultan’s Rs. 229.16 cr total collections. Moreover, War recorded higher business figures than a range of other releases such as Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs. 206.04 cr), Sanju (Rs. 202.51 cr), Dangal (Rs 197 54 cr), Dhoom 3 (Rs 188 99cr), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 184 62 cr), PK (Rs 183 09 cr) and Bharat (Rs 180 05cr).
War’s theater run is still strong, with some countries even adding additional screenings to meet the high audience demand. Since the movie will be virtually unchallenged for its second weekend, it’s anticipated that its box office business will experience a significant growth in revenues.
