John Abraham’s two-decade–long career has seen Ek Villain Returns become the 12th biggest success for him in its opening week. The movie was amongst his top ten first-day and opening weekend hits. Nevertheless, its collections failed to remain as steady during the weekdays and, consequently, were overtaken by Parmanu – The Story of Pokharan, Madras Cafe, and Romeo Akbar Walter.
Incidentally, all three films in the list are John Abraham solo starrers. But what is really striking is the fact that five of these films are franchises, where he appears as a new character in the second installment. These films are Race 2, Welcome Back, Housefull 2, Shootout at Wadala and Ek Villain Returns. Satyameva Jayate also features in the list, as it is a franchise that started with John Abraham. However, the second installment of this movie didn’t quite perform well, and thus didn’t make it to the list.
