After enduring a long period of struggle, Shamshera’s theatrical run is coming to an end. The movie opened badly and could not pick up any momentum over the weekend; its fate further deteriorated during the weekdays. Sadly, it did not garner much appreciation from viewers and this had a detrimental impact on the movie’s performance at the box office, resulting in numbers that are much lower than what was anticipated, even though the film is now declared as a major failure.
Although the Ranbir Kapoor–starrer did not enjoy much attention prior to its release, people at least predicted it to earn at least Rs. 50 crores in its opening weekend. However, it has now become quite evident that the movie will not even meet the said mark over its entire run, revealing how unpredictable the box office has become of late. Disappointingly, the film was able to make a meagre Rs. 40.45 crores during its first week, a truly underwhelming result for a YRF production.
It looks very unlikely that the film will add even a few crores to its total. It has already been pulled from the majority of theatres, and Ek Villain Returns has fortunately taken off with a good start, allowing audiences something to finally watch and be engaged with. Unsurprisingly, Shamshera is a massive failure, becoming one of the greatest disasters in Bollywood history.
