What to Watch on Winter Holidays?

As we approach the last days of the year, craving quality time to spend alone or with loved ones, winter movies are starting to sound more appealing than usual. It is that season of comforting touch, blankets, hot cocoa, and a good movie set in snow, love, and comfort. It could also be the time of the year to visit places, see the world, or play slots on platforms like Mr Bet app. Regardless of your standpoint about the season, a good movie during this period should make your holiday list. Here is an article on the top 8 winter movies to binge on this season. Let’s get into it!

     A Last Holiday (2006)

A last holiday is a classic entry, and there is a reason it’s first on our list. It is a movie that shows us how better romance can be when it’s set in snow. The film is a top romantic comedy where Queen Latifah takes a trip to Grandhotel Pupp in the Czech Republic after learning she has only 3 weeks to live. She spends her life savings enjoying her supposed last days in life, and in the process, she finds love. What’s better than a night snuggled up in your soft sheets and watching a romantic movie about Queen Latifah finding love in the most unexpected time and place? Absolutely nothing!

    The Holiday (2006)

Two women having troubles with their love life switch homes during the winter, and the story “The Holiday” comes to life. The Holiday is another romantic movie about people finding love in distant countries. After switching homes, each finds a local guy and falls in love. It is a classic holiday movie you could rewatch this season. This movie was also released in 2006. 2006 has some of the best romantic movies for the winter, and The Holiday is a perfect place to start.

    Little Women (2019)

Little Women is a perfect selection for some family time. Celebrate your winter with the March sisters in a classic retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s Novel. The movie is set in the fall and winter scenes, with sisters trying to navigate life at a young age. The story centers around Jo March, Amy, Meg, and Beth, 4 sisters, and their holiday affairs. Little Women has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92% audience score.

    The Family Stone (2005)

This movie is a hilarious rendition of awkward family dinners and get-togethers with in-laws during the festive period. The Family Stone makes a comedy out of the awkward tension that sometimes accompanies family time and Christmas celebrations. In this film, Meredith Morton takes us on an exciting journey as she attempts to blend in with her boyfriend’s family over the break.

    Ice Age (2002)

If you have a few kids around, Ice Age could be the perfect movie to bond with them. It offers a quirky, childlike storyline that the kids would absolutely love. Ice Age follows the story of four animals figuring their life out at the beginning of an ice age. The plot becomes more enthralling when they discover a lost baby out in the middle of nowhere.

    Hold the Park (2018)

Your holiday movie collection doesn’t necessarily have to be about love and romance. Hold the Park tells the thrilling story of a retired wolf expert as he attempts to help a grieving mother find the wolves that killed her children. Amidst this, he finds himself swept into some unexpected mystery. Hold the Park is available on Netflix, and you can watch it easily in the comfort of your home.

    The Lodge (2019)

There is a pick for everyone, including horror movies. The Lodge tells the story of a woman who visits her fiance’s family’s remote Lodge only to be faced with mysterious encounters. Strange and frightening events begin, and the stage is set for horror and scary action. The Lodge has a 75% rating on Rotten Tomato based on reviews and is a classic horror movie fit for the season.

    Snow-Piercer (2013)

There is something about science fiction movies that brings chills to the audience. Snow Piercer lives up to this expectation in its story about a failed experiment and the consequences that follow. The entire world is left frozen, killing half of life on earth; except a few survivors on a train traveling the globe. The story features stars like Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, and Tilda Swinton. Snow Piercer tells an unusual story, but seeing more snow and winter featured in this new world brings some soothing familiarity to the audience.

    What Didn’t Make the List?

We could go on about top winter movies to add to your list this season. The list is endless, but we’re sure the options above are a great place to start. Spending your holidays in the thrills of a good film is never a bad idea. Other classic picks we might have missed are A Winter Getaway, A Boy Called Christmas, The Perfect Holiday, and Winter’s Sleep.
