Top Pakistani Dramas to watch in 2022
2022 gave us all these new faces and shows! Pakistani dramas are still winning audiences’ hearts around the world this year. Alongside some fresh new stars who debuted, veteran actors have also shined brightly. Tbh, though love stories will always be a thing in Pakistani drama-watching lore, an old concept is coming to an end with authors now focusing on different themes about social issues that were once overlooked by traditional portrayals. There’s been this recent wave of powerful dramas which has really caught people’s attention; they’ve won over audiences’ hearts while touching upon contemporary topics they might never had heard before.
1. Sang e Mah – Top Pakistani Drama in 2022
Atif Aslam’s presence cannot be denied when it comes to his role in Sang e Mah, but there is so much more to the show. The drama centers around tribal family life and how they sacrifice their modern lives for tradition, focusing on old-fashioned values in an ever-changing society; it even has connections to a previous show titled Sang e Mar Mer that aired back in 2017.
Both these programs highlighted some of the uglier aspects of our society which are generally brushed off or ignored. They included honor killings, domestic violence, bride bribes and patriarchy in traditional cultures; they attempted to counteract such issues by providing an insightful script and a strong storyline.
2. Paristaan
Despite its heartbreaking backstories, this show’s light atmosphere never fails to entertain. Paristaan was most recognized because of the appearances of Merub and Junaid Khan Niazi as a couple- everyone loves them so much. Of course, these two people don’t disappoint when seen on-screen together – they can’t look any more adorable than they do now. This story follows many tropes but since it’s comedic in nature, we’re still left laughing after watching an episode each time. It guarantees some good laughs every week which is why you’ll see me tuning in!
3. Dil Awaiz
The story follows a young girl named Dil Awaiz. When she was born, her father did not want anything to do with her because of his wife’s past but still treated his other children well and financially provided for them. She eventually meets an attractive man named Sikander who falls for her as well; unfortunately he doesn’t see the real her since he is only interested in what is on the outside rather than looking beyond appearances – which becomes glaringly apparent when he marries someone else.
Step-sister, Fariya runs away with her boyfriend leaving Dilawaiz to marry a man she had never loved, only doing so in order to appease the honor of both sides of the family. Through this story we see jaw dropping moments and get an inside look at how our society really works; showing us just how blind we are when it comes to judging people.
4. Mushkil Drama
Mushkil Drama Story takes an unexpected turn with each passing episode. It started off University life and Sameen and Faraz getting into trouble together. Then it took a quick turn when Sameen’s fiancé up and left her without a word, leaving her too distraught to react coherently.
The fathers of both parties stepped in to save the day by marrying their children without either party’s consent. As soon as he agreed to marry Sameen, Faraz let his true feelings come out – showing that he had absolutely no interest whatsoever in accepting Sameen now or ever at all for that matter.
It is important to remember how mean Zainab Shabbir was acting towards Sameen during this whole episode of Mushkil. Even though Hareem apologized and tried her best to make amends with her former friend, it didn’t seem as if she felt remorseful at all. Instead of caring about how hurtful what she said and did were; but instead of forgiving Hareem for being a part of this whole dilemma, she betrayed her once again in return. All these actions were just revenge and not just an impulse reaction out of anger or spitefulness – this is because they happened while they both where drunk which made them into poor decisions without any consideration towards the consequences. Still waiting for the preview to come out!
