Exhibitors and theatre owners across the country had plenty to celebrate when the Hollywood release Thor: Love and Thunder raked in additional audiences on its second day. The Marvel film, which had made a resounding Rs. 18.60 crore on its opening day, saw Rs. 12 crore more on the second day, showing no significant drop. Even more impressive was that these figures are almost on par with the total lifetime earnings of numerous films with renowned stars released this year, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the current difficult circumstances.
The movie has earned a whopping Rs. 30.60 crores* till date and is on track to hold a similar amount of collection as yesterday. If the movie accumulates another Rs. 10 crores+, it would break the previous week’s score of Thor: Ragnarok with a collection of Rs. 40.37 crores. Undoubtedly, the movie is expected to be a huge success.
Subsequently, Khuda Hafiz: Chapter 2 is likely the first occasion when a movie that released exclusively on OTT is now developing into a franchise with its legitimate continuation launching first in the theaters. It was truly a daring decision taken after assessing the performance of the first part on the OTT platform. Vidyut Jammwal–starrer has been gaining audiences at certain mass pockets with a total of Rs. 1.40 crores*. It will now depend on the expansion it shows in the forthcoming days of the weekend.
JugJugg Jeeyo is an undeniable hit with multiplex audiences in North India, evidenced by its steady and sizable box office collections on Friday. It added an additional 92 lakhs to its already-substantial Rs. 74.63 crores total, indicating it had hardly dropped from its 1 crore Thursday score, despite the presence of Thor: Love and Thunder. Its resilient position should guarantee another 4.5-5 crores will come in by the end of the weekend, bringing its grand total to nearly Rs. 80 crores.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
