Aanand L Rai’s much anticipated directorial venture, Raksha Bandhan, was finally released this Thursday on the 11th of August. Boasting a star cast of Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, it seemed set to be welcomed with immense fanfare but unfortunately opened to modest box office figures of 8.20 crores on its opening day. This soon followed with a steep decline in numbers on its second day; remaining constant for the next few days thereafter.
Analyzing the performance of Akshay Kumar’s movie Raksha Bandhan in the overseas market, the U.K emerges as a top contributor with Rs. 1.98 crores collected in eight days. It is closely followed by U.S.A and Canada respectively collecting Rs. 1.91 crores and Rs. 69.41 lakhs at the box office over this duration period; further extending its outreach, Australia and New Zealand have contributed to it as well amounting up to Rs 51.93 lakhs and Rs 31.22 lakhs respectively at the conclusion of its first week of release on cinema screens worldwide!
