The much–anticipated and heavily publicized directorial project of Aanand L Rai, Raksha Bandhan, was finally released on Thursday, 11th August. Boasting Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the leading roles, the movie opened its account to an underwhelming start as it gathered Rs 8.20 crores on Day 1 despite enjoying a festive launch. The takings went further down on Day 2 and showed no sign of improvement in subsequent days either.
This box office report sheds light on the overseas collections of the Akshay Kumar starrer, Raksha Bandhan, split into territory-wise data. Unsurprisingly, USA earned Rs. 2.01 cr., followed by U.K and Canada who brought in Rs. 1.20 cr and Rs. 81 lakhs respectively. Interesting to note is that the movie had some success Down Under as well with Australia and New Zealand gathering Rs 55 lakhs and 37 lakhs respectively during its second weekend in cinemas!
