With no new films out this weekend, Delhi shutting down all theaters was obviously a major setback. But it doesn’t mean we can’t find the silver lining! With so many people staying at home for New Year, movies will fare much better than usual and they might end up doing even better than they would’ve if there weren’t any setbacks.
Spider-Man: No Way Home did around Rs. 10 crores more this past weekend due to the absence of any other competing films in theaters. Though there will be major competition against Raja Rani on Friday, at least this week will see some money being made which is something considering how little time has passed since Spider-Man first came out. Due to the sheer demand and lack of 3D screens available, Spider-man has been taken off many theaters – a problem that should still eventually level out and result in some hopeful profit for Marvel Studios despite losses right now.
Following the trend of Spider-Man: No Way Home increasing in collections, it seems that the film will most likely surpass its one-hundred crore marker soon. After all, it has been steadily creeping up since release and looks like nothing can stop it now.
