The Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi, having just been released recently, has already seen brisk business at the box office after its initial release. From humble beginnings when audiences of all ages applauded enthusiastically – it did not take long for people to eagerly anticipate another show. Now that this first major Bollywood film has been released during a time where many restrictions are lifted and theatres are open again – people seem eager to see it for themselves as well. And even though there are only 3000+ screens available for it – still no one can deny how well it has done so far!
With just over 30 million Rupees collected after two days, this was one of Akshay Kumar’s top 10 second weekend box-office runs. However, despite doubling its opening day earnings from Sunday with an impressive first-weekend collection for the movie (roughly 46 Million Rupees), the successful run dropped off significantly by Monday when the trade opened giving up 50 percent compared to Saturday’s figures according to Koimoi Box Office report published on November 18th.
It was always going to be hard for Sooryavanshi considering that it would need at least 80 crores if they wanted to beat a 90 crore figure set by Mission Mangal last year. With the limited screens showing Sooryavanshi, which saw tickets getting sold out within minutes in some areas and struggling to find an audience because its heavy story-line and festival holidays looming ahead – trade analysts agree about Shyam Benegal’s success rate as director being very low.
