The muchawaited movie Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar delivered on expectations during its opening week, collecting a total of Rs.120.67 crore. Fans kept their eyes on the second weekend and the movie held steady on Friday, raking in Rs. 6.83 crore. Saturday brought a promising growth with an additional Rs. 10.35 crore.
The movie impetus to remain on track until the end of the weekend. While there was growth from Saturday to Sunday in the first weekend, the returns were not as substantial due to the pre–existing high level of audience turnout and the added Diwali festivities. At present, the trends mimic those of the preceding period, when cinema films usually made twice their Friday take on Sunday. Meanwhile, Sunday business in multiplex films sometimes tripled the returns from the initial day. A Sunday doubling of Friday revenue was usually regarded as a sign of success in mass films.
Rohit Shetty’shas a lofty goal to achieve on Sunday: double the Friday’s business of Rs. 6.83 crore, amounting to Rs. 13-14 crore. Should it succeed, the film would be well on its way to the much-sought–after Rs. 150 crore. All those involved with the movie have high expectations of reaching this mark.
