It took a lot of effort but it finally happened. Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty came together for the first time ever to produce Sooryavanshi – much anticipated when it was announced alongside Simmba back in December 2018. With three years worth of information out there about this police universe, new additions from Akshay Kumar (Sooryavanshi), Ajay Devgn (Singham) and Ranveer Singh (Simmba) just completed the trio this year.
It was just last week that Bollywood delivered its own take on James Bond and it looks like it paid off too. Already, the movie has grossed over Rs.120 crores at the box office, earning even more than movies such as Simmba starring Ajay Devgn or Sooryavanshi starring Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn. Interestingly enough, so far, all three films-Simmba being an exception- feature someone else playing a supporting character and Ajay Devgn playing the protagonist until later in the story when he steps up to play both roles. Now we look forward to Singham 3 which will be Rohit Shetty’s third turn directing this fan favorite franchise. Given what we’ve seen before from these films with Akshay Kumar and Rajnikanth, respectively- expect Ajay Devgn to star alongside them as he takes center stage once again.
