श्री कृष्ण को गोविंद क्यों कहते हैं?
जब भगवान कृष्ण छोटे थे, तो बहुत नटखट थे। उनके कन्हैया, श्याम, नंदलाला और गोपाल जैसे कई नाम थे और हर नाम के पीछे एक कहानी है। ऐसी ही कहानी उनके गोविंद नाम के पीछे भी है, तो आज की कहानी इस गोविंद नाम पर ही है।

बात उन दिनों की है जब बाल-गोपाल कृष्ण जंगल में गायों को चराने जाया करते थे। एक दिन वह अपनी गायों को जंगले ले कर गए, तो कामधेनु नाम की एक गाय उनके पास आई। उस गाय ने भगवान श्री कृष्ण से कहा, “मेरा नाम कामधेनु है और मैं स्वर्गलोक से आई हूं। जिस तरह आप पृथ्वी पर गायों की रक्षा करते हैं, उससे मैं बहुत प्रभावित हूं और आपका सम्मान करने के लिए आपका अभिषेक करना चाहती हूं।”

कामधेनु की यह बात सुन कर भगवान मुस्कुराए और उन्होंने उसे अभिषेक करने की अनुमति दे दी। इसके बाद, कामधेनु ने पवित्र जल से भगवान श्री कृष्ण का अभिषेक किया। इसके बाद, इंद्रदेव अपने हाथी एरावत पर बैठकर वहां आए और उन्होंने श्री कृष्ण से कहा कि आपके पुण्य कामों की वजह से अब से सारी दुनिया में लोग आपको गोविंद के नाम से भी जानेंगे।

It is a matter of those days when Bal-Gopal Krishna used to go to the forest to graze the cows. One day when he took his cows to the jungle, a cow named Kamdhenu came to him. That cow said to Lord Shri Krishna, “My name is Kamdhenu and I have come from heaven. I am very impressed by the way you protect the cows on earth and want to anoint you to honor you.”

Lord smiled after hearing this talk of Kamdhenu and he allowed her to perform Abhishek. After this, Kamdhenu anointed Lord Shri Krishna with holy water. After this, Indradev came there sitting on his elephant Airavat and told Shri Krishna that from now on people all over the world will know you as Govind because of your virtuous deeds.
