Sana Safinaz presents the winter 2022 collection – pure lawn three-piece suits that pay tribute to the handicraft of woodblock printing. Sana Safinaz designers created a limited edition set of eight prints in sixteen different colourways with an emphasis on traditional pastes and gold chaap embroidery, heritage designs, resham threads and zari applique work. The result? Eight exquisite examples of fine art wrapped up in one eco-friendly fabric, including immaculately woven cotton tulle dupattas priced at Rs 5 000 or less.
Over the years, we have come across some of skilled craftsmen and women. It has taken us decades to find them all but every single one has been amazing in their own way. They are what makes this world so fascinating – these fine artisans who keep ancient traditions alive through generations. In honour of them all, we present Muzlin: our newly launched line that pays tribute to traditional woodblock printing techniques; created in collaboration with those who know it best.
After reflecting upon the principles of traditional outfits and textile techniques, our thoughts turned to translating those ideas into various modes of art. The ancient styles of gold embroidery and white paste prints – painstakingly etched onto Pure Lawn fabric with such finesse – form the basis for this exquisite collection. Adding tulle dupatta scarves which pay homage to India’s rich history, we present Muzlin: A brand new range featuring 3-piece suit sets priced at less than Rs 5,000 each! This makes it an ideal addition to anyone’s closet – whether they’re looking to embrace tradition or they want something different from what all their friends are wearing.
A black dress shirt with golden thread embroidered at the neckline and sleeves comes paired with charcoal slacks. The fabric of both is made from silk, which has been embellished with luxurious gold-leaf prints. Also included in this ensemble are a black dupatta that has an elaborate geometric pattern printed on it; as well as a matching scarf worn over one shoulder (similar to those worn by Egyptian royalty).
This gorgeous ivory shirt has intricate gold patterning inspired by Mughal artwork. It goes perfectly with its matching white pants, which also have a golden design on them. Along with this ensemble comes a thin red fabric draped over the shoulders and pinned at one side – this type of traditional outfit is typically worn when women go to weddings or other formal ceremonies in India.

A cream and Tiffany blue color-blocked shirt with a Mughal inspired pastel design of pink, cream, and gold colors. Comes with printed pants for a perfect matching look! It also comes with an ivory woven cotton tulle dupatta which has been designed from contrasting colors of cream, beige, and gold as well as beautifully detailed zari work.
Sana Safinaz Muzlin Collection 2022 Unstitched – 3 Piece, a red wine shirt with a gray paste and gold print and French trellis embroidery in cream, beige, and golden tilla. It comes with matching pants made of creamy white fabric with an intricate pattern of golden polka dots (tilla), along with a matching scarf made out of layers of gauze-like fabric that has been sewn together to create one long piece.
This Muzlin Collection, 2022 Embroidered Unstitched – 3 Piece, includes a mango shirt with bright yellow embroidery and light pink print consisting of ornamental Mughal patterns. The shalwar is made from light cream fabric with similar designs, while the dupatta–pink at one end and gold at the other–features geometric prints.
This three-piece Mughal-style set from the Muzlin collection features a short-sleeved beige shirt embellished with intricate hand embroidery on cream fabric; it comes with contrasting cream trousers and an intricately detailed, layered saree drape made of blend of zari thread, cotton warp and weft threads in earth tones; this outfit is finished off with a printed turban styled dupatta wrapped around the head.
The Muzlin Collection – 3 Piece, a flamingo and carnation color-blocked shirt with cream paste and gold print and silk tilla threadwork. Comes with flamingo pants with a cream paste print, and a flamingo woven cotton tulle dupatta featuring an elaborate embroidered motif of traditional Pakistani flower shapes.
In 2022, MUZLIN will be selling an unstructured – 3 embroidered piece; the shirt is rose colored and has cream paste printed designs with gold tilla thread work for some detailing. This suit comes with a matching pair of pants that are also made out of rose colored material but there are cream print designs as well. To complete this look we added a flamingo weave cotton dupatta wrapped around it which has different colors from before including gold prints of traditional tribal motifs.
It was a light pink blouse made of pure lawn with Ottoman-inspired patterns done in white and gold paste, cream trousers embroidered heavily with patterns of golden chaap, plus a light brown and pale yellow blended zari dupatta.
This particular item is an aquamarine blue lawn shirt with pastel and gold prints. Comes with matching pale-blue pants, embroidered using a cream fabric with threads of pastel shades combined intricately to achieve this beautiful, unique design. There are also white silk thread stitches used alongside small dots of yellow on the top left side of the neckline, which show one of those exquisite points where strands intersect – representing true craftsmanship from Azerbaijan.
