The anticipated Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 3 released this past Friday to mixed reviews from critics. The film which was expected to bring in good numbers during its opening day has seen a dismal performance mainly due to on-going nationwide anti-CAA protests. These nationwide anti-CAA protest resulted in theater owners losing money for every movie screening as many people stayed home or went out and protested against it, making it difficult for theaters to generate profits.
The opening weekend business for Dabangg 3 seems to have taken a heavy toll thus far, with an estimated loss of about Rs. 20 crore to the movie’s total earnings thus far from its first three days. It’s currently believed that this lower collection rate is due to not only the anti-CAA protests but also because certain areas like Bihar faced a bandh on Sunday due to India-West Indies cricket match taking place today.
As of now, Dabangg 3 has enjoyed an unopposed weeklong theatrical release. However, even trade predictions are not painting a rosy picture for this latest Salman Khan movie. According to these predictions, the film will be wrapping up its box office run at about Rs. 130 – 150 crore rupees by the end of its first week or so; which is much less than some other typical Salman Khan movies would earn during the same time frame
