Yet another landmark achievement has been achieved by the Hindi version of Saaho as it broke through Rs. 130 crores ($20 million). On its second Sunday, the film collected a gross amount of Rs. 6.60 crore rupees and that helped push up overall collection figures to Rs. 130 crore rupees ($20 million). If it wishes to achieve its goal of closing in on Rs. 150 crores ($25 million), then each passing day is critical for success:
ideally each one should be bringing in about 10 crore (Rs 20-25 million) rupees more than before – barring Thursday or Friday which are likely to see slighter lower turnout due to office closure for holiday weekends. With only about 4-5 days left for successful netting, or let’s say 7 days including 3 Sundays (which will probably net us around 12-15 percent less than had they not been common working days), then reaching approx $100+ may take some kindless intervention.
Though the first weekend numbers for Saaho were more than decent, it will be hard to predict whether or not the film will reach one hundred fifty crore rupees on its opening week. But, even if Saaho does not reach the milestone set by other Southern movies such as Baahubali – The Beginning and Baahubali – The Conclusion (both starring Prabhas), there is still merit in these numbers because many Indian films haven’t been able to do this well overall.
