The much-anticipated Brahmastra was finally released last week. It’s directed by the great director Ayan Mukherji and stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt – two very famous actors. It started off really well, with people booking tickets in advance before it even came out. The movie ended up doing well too, despite being pitted against some other big releases this year; it did surprisingly well in its first few days. Nowadays though you can see that there are people who still go watch it on weekends too when they’ve had enough time to think about it after work or school…
For this story, we will compare how many copies of the movie Brahmastra were sold in its first week compared to other movies starring lead actor Ranbir Kapoor. Brahmastra raked in Rs. 170.20 crores; nevertheless, it can’t compare with earnings from Sanju – which amassed Rs. 202.51 crores – and so ranks as 2nd highest opening-week grosser for Kapoor alone!
Meanwhile, the 5500+ screens in India show that though it doesn’t surpass the amount from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Rs. 107.61 crores) or Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (Rs. 80 crore), it does out-gross Raajneeti (Rs. 56 crores), Tamasha (Rs 182.63 crores), Besharam (Rs 54 crore).
Going forward, Brahmastra, which continues to dominate the box office and has yet to slow down since its release two weeks ago, is expected to see an increase in business over its second weekend. Though there are only one or two other films releasing that week with it – trade predictions state that because of this lack of competition, the film will cross India’s 200 crore threshold easily.
