The highly anticipated Aanand L Rai directorial, Raksha Bandhan, was released on Thursday, 11th August with much fanfare. Starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, the film had great expectations surrounding its opening. However, it only managed to bring in a meagre Rs. 8.20 crores on the first day, resulting in a fall in collections on its second day. Luckily, on Day 3, the movie saw a significant growth in revenue.
In this box office report, we explore the foreign collections of Akshay Kumar’s movie, Raksha Bandhan, broken down by region. Not surprisingly, the U.S.A. proved to be the biggest earner, accumulating Rs. 1.12 cr. in the span of three days. U.K. and Canada were not far behind, each bringing in Rs. 50.97 lakhs and Rs. 40.03 lakhs, respectively. Raksha Bandhan proved to be popular in the faraway regions of Australia and New Zealand as well, garnering Rs. 31.89 lakhs and Rs. 18.47 lakhs respectively by the end of its third day of screenings.
In the foreseeable future, Raksha Bandhan – which has been acclaimed by critics – is anticipated to observe a rise in its box–office figures. Indeed, as per trade forecasts, despite the rivalry from Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan is likely to be highly profited from the elongated weekend.
