Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, directed by Aanand L Rai, made its grand debut on Thursday, August 11. Even though it was pitted against Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, industry experts were optimistic that the film would fare decently well at the box office.
aksha Bandhan, released on the special occasion of Rakshabandhan, opened on a fairly moderate note in overseas markets. Across the first three days of its release, the movie earned a total of USD 470K [Rs. 3.74 cr.] at the overseas box office.
Trade estimates indicate that the movie will experience further growth on its first Sunday showing. In fact, it would come as no surprise if the success of Raksha Bandhan were to surpass the Rs. 5 cr. mark by the close of its initial overseas weekend run.
