Bollywood Hungama, the leading Indian film website is announcing that Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai has grossed over ₹9 Crores in its opening weekend. In Tripura alone there are three screens showing this blockbuster and it’s still going strong with two screenings per day. Back home in Maharashtra and Gujarat there are many cinemas all playing this film daily, trying to capitalize on audience enthusiasm for the movie.
Here at Khinvasara Cineplex we opened up an additional screening at 6:15 PM so now for those who can’t see Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai during 3 o’clock or who want extra showings; they have another option. And even though we haven’t seen much business yet compared to other theaters, we’re confident that things will pick up soon!
Unfortunately, the Maharashtra state government has issued an order to dissolve two levels of classification – Level 1 and Level 2. In accordance with their policy guidelines, theaters were permitted to open in Aurangabad as it was classified under a lower category. However, this new rule means that no theaters are allowed to operate in any location classified at Levels 1 or 2; because Khinvasara Cineplex falls into this classification.
A source close to us said that there was some confusion about the enforcement date of this new law. It had been rumored that it would go into effect on Saturday, June 26 but many were not sure what time or day the enforcement took place. On Monday, after much deliberation, the movie theater started selling tickets for a 6:15 PM showing. Yet even with such uncertainty, at least eight viewers still showed up and purchased tickets for this later screening in order to avoid any risk of repercussions under Delta Plus; whereas sixteen people bought tickets for Sunday’s showings where no punishment could be inflicted.
An insider from the film industry commented The fact that 26 people showed up on Friday proves viewers were ready to watch Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai as much as they did before. But then rumors and fears got in the way of its progress. An expert in trade told Bollywood Hungama, Radhe- Your Most Wanted Bhai collected around Rs. 2,864 on Friday, Rs. 881 on Saturday and Rs. 1,763 on Sunday. These are approximate figures. The collections of Radhe-Your Most Wanted Bhai now stand at Rs. 1,20,712 (approximately).
This brings an end to Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai’s successful run at Khinvasara Cineplex. Bollywood Hungama previously reported that from June 11 to June 17, Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai collected Rs. 21,259 in Khinvasara Cineplex. However, in the subsequent week (June 18-24) it only managed to collect Rs.21,813 [as opposed to the increase seen during Week 2].
An industry insider explained that more tickets of Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai were sold on Friday 25th June than had been sold on Friday 18th. As such, we can assume there was a decrease in revenue this time around as opposed to last time when collections increased due partly to the success of its opening day performance which brought in a majority of its total earnings over these weeks.
However, Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai’s theatrical run continues. The state of Gujarat has permitted cinemas to open from yesterday. And the Salman Khan starrer has now been released in the cities of Surat and Jamnagar; with 4 showings daily at Friday Cinemas and 3 showings per day at Rupam Cinemas in Surat; while Amber Cinemas also offer 3 showings per day for locals in nearby city Jamnagar. Audiences will soon decide if they wish to see this film on the big screen or wait until it premieres online or elsewhere.
