राधा अष्टमी व्रत की कहानी
राधा माता गोलोक में श्रीकृष्ण के साथ रहती थीं। एक दफा कृष्ण भगवान को गोलोक में राधा रानी कहीं नजर नहीं आईं। कुछ देर बाद कन्हैया अपनी सखी विराजा के साथ घूमने चले गए। यह बात जब राधा रानी को मालूम हुई, तो उन्हें गुस्सा आया और वो सीधे कन्हैया के पास पहुंची। वहां पहुंचकर उन्होंने श्रीकृष्ण को काफी भला-बुरा कहा।
राधा रानी का यह रवैया भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के प्यारे मित्र श्रीदामा को बिल्कुल अच्छा नहीं लगा। श्रीदामा ने उसी वक्त बिना कुछ सोचे समझे राधा रानी को पृथ्वी पर जन्म लेने का श्राप दे दिया। राधा को इतने गुस्से में देखकर कृष्ण भगवान की सखी विराजा भी नदी के रूप में वहां से चली गईं।

राधा ने श्रीदामा से श्राप पाने के बाद उन्हें राक्षस कुल में पैदा होने का श्राप दिया। राधा जी द्वारा दिए गए श्राप की वजह से ही श्रीदामा का जन्म शंखचूड़ दानव के रूप में हुआ। आगे चलकर वही दानव, भगवान विष्णु का परम भक्त बना। दूसरी तरफ, राधा रानी ने पृथ्वी पर वृषभानु के घर पुत्री के रूप में जन्म लिया।
मनुष्य के अवतार में आपका एक वैश्य से विवाह होगा। वो मेरे अंशावतारों में से ही एक होगा। इस तरह आप पृथ्वी पर भी मेरी ही बनकर रहेंगी। परंतु, हम दोनों को बिछड़ने का दुख सहना होगा। इसके बाद कृष्ण भगवान ने राधा जी को मनुष्य योनी के रूप में जन्म लेने की तैयारी करने के लिया कहा।

संसार के सामने वृषभानुजी की पत्नी गर्भवती हुईं। जिस तरह एक बच्चा दुनिया में आता है, ठीक वैसे ही देवी कीर्ति का भी प्रसव हुआ, लेकिन असल में राधा माता का जन्म देवी कीर्ति के गर्भ से नहीं हुआ था। भगवान की माया से उनके गर्भ में वायु भर गई थी। देवी कीर्ती ने उसी वायु को जन्म दिया। इस दौरान उन्हें प्रसव पीड़ा हो रही थी और वहां राधा माता के रूप में एक प्यारी सी कन्या ने जन्म लिया।
भाद्र मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की अष्टमी के दिन राधा मैया का धरती पर जन्म हुआ था। तभी से हर साल इस दिन को राधा अष्टमी के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

Radha Mata used to live with Shri Krishna in Goloka. Once Lord Krishna could not see Radha Rani anywhere in Goloka. After some time Kanhaiya went for a walk with his friend Viraja. When Radha Rani came to know about this, she got angry and went straight to Kanhaiya. After reaching there, he said many good and bad things to Shri Krishna.
Lord Krishna’s dear friend Sridama did not like this attitude of Radha Rani at all. At the same time, without thinking anything, Shridama cursed Radha Rani to be born on earth. Seeing Radha so angry, Lord Krishna’s friend Viraja also left from there in the form of a river.

Radha, after receiving a curse from Sridama, cursed him to be born in a demon clan. Because of the curse given by Radha ji, Shridama was born as Shankhchud demon. Later on, the same demon became an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu. On the other hand, Radha Rani took birth on earth as the daughter of Vrishabhanu.
Radha Rani was born in the house of Vrishabhanuji, but not from the womb of his wife Devi Kirti. In fact, at the time when Radha Maiya and Sridama had cursed each other, Lord Krishna had said that Radha you will have to live on earth as the daughter of Vrishabhanuji and Devi Kirti.

Vrishabhanuji’s wife became pregnant in front of the world. Just like a child comes into the world, Goddess Kirti was also born in the same way, but actually Radha Mata was not born from the womb of Goddess Kirti. The air in her womb was filled with the illusion of God. Goddess Kirti gave birth to the same wind. During this, she was having labor pain and there a lovely girl was born in the form of Radha Mata.
Radha Maiya was born on earth on the Ashtami day of Shukla Paksha of Bhadra month. Since then every year this day is celebrated as Radha Ashtami.
