The Allu Arjun– Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 which premiered in December 2020 has stayed afloat even in the face of competing films. At the box office, it was the clear victor, and even weeks after its OTT launch, Pushpa continues to bring in the crowds to theaters.
Pushpa: The Rise isperforming strongly at the box office, with collections reaching Rs. 3.25 cr in its 8th week. This has enabled the film’s total box office collections to climb closer to the Rs. 110 cr mark, currently at an estimated Rs. 106.04 cr. This success has come as a surprise to audiences, critics, and analysts. Moreover, compared to other releases which also made it to their 8th week, Pushpa’s box office figures are faring better than that of Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion, which brought in Rs. 1.40 cr.
In the context, new films like Badhaai Do and the Deepika Padukone–starring Gehraiyaan streaming on OTT platforms are giving stiff competition to Pushpa: The Rise. One has to wonder, will the movie’s success hold up or will its success be hampered?
