Yesterday, Prince- the romantic comedy film written and directed by Anudeep KV starring Sivakarthikeyan, Maria Ryaboshapka and Sathyaraj- opened up in theaters nationwide. With stiff competition from the Karthi starrer Sardar- it maintained its current level of success with a first day gross of Rs. 7.03 crores at the Tamil Nadu box office alone; this is only one indication that it had started out strong.
Surprisingly, the Sivakarthikeyan starrer Prince has managed to entice the audience despite its competition in this market in the form of Sardar garnering positive reviews. In fact, looking at the current trend within this market, it seems that Prince wants to take over as India’s latest leading box-office earner; with Sardar hot on his heels. With both films doing equally well and also providing audiences with a variety to choose from when they want some entertainment, Diwali -the festival of lights- will surely be an exciting prospect for moviegoers who are eager to see what these two classics can offer them.
Currently, both Prince and Sardar appear set to make a lot of money this holiday weekend. And given the fact that Monday and Tuesday are holidays on account of Diwali, it is estimated that both movies – Prince and Sardar – will experience an increased revenue from last weekend due to the extra days off during this holiday period.
