परिवर्तिनी एकादशी व्रत कथा
पाण्डुनन्दन अर्जुन ने कहा – “”हे प्रभु! भादों की शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी का क्या नाम है तथा उसके वत का क्या विधान है? उस एकादशी के उपवास को करने से किस फल की प्राप्ति होती है। हे कृष्ण! कृपा कर यह सब समझाकर कहिए।’
भगवान विष्णु जी आरती: ॐ जय जगदीश हरे
श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा – “”हे पार्थ! भाद्रपद माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी को जयन्ती एकादशी भी कहते हैं। इस एकादशी की कथा के सुनने मात्र से ही सभी पापों का शमन हो जाता है और मनुष्य स्वर्ग का अधिकारी बन जाता है। इस जयन्ती एकादशी की कथा से नीच पापियों का भी उद्धार हो जाता है। यदि कोई धर्मपरायण मनुष्य एकादशी के दिन मेरा पूजन करता है तो मैं उसको संसार की पूजा का फल देता हूँ। जो मनुष्य मेरी पूजा करता है, उसे मेरे लोक की प्राप्ति होती है। इसमें तनिक भी सन्देह नहीं। जो मनुष्य इस एकादशी के दिन भगवान श्रीवामन का पूजन करता है, वह तीनों देवता अर्थात ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, महेश की पूजा करता है। हे पार्थ! जो मनुष्य इस एकादशी का उपवास करते हैं, उन्हें इस संसार में कुछ भी करना शेष नहीं रहता। इस एकादशी के दिन भगवान विष्णु करवट बदलते हैं, इसलिए इसे परिवर्तिनी एकादशी भी कहते हैं।’
भगवान विष्णु जी का सबसे मीठा भजन: ॐ जय जगदीश
यह सुन विस्मित होकर अर्जुन ने कहा – “”हे जनार्दन! आपके वचनों को सुनकर मैं भ्रम में पड़ गया हूँ कि आप किस प्रकार सोते तथा करवट बदलते हैं? आपने बलि को क्यों बाँधा और वामन रूप धारण करके क्या लीलाएँ कीं। चातुर्मास्य व्रत का विधान क्या है तथा आपके शयन करने पर मनुष्य का क्या कर्त्तव्य है, कृपा कर सब आप विस्तारपूर्वक कहिए।’
भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा – “”हे कुन्ती पुत्र अर्जुन! अब तुम समस्त पापों का शमन करने वाली इस कथा का ध्यानपूर्वक श्रवण करो। त्रेतायुग में बलि नाम का एक असुर था। वह अत्यन्त भक्त, दानी, सत्यवादी तथा ब्राह्मणों की सेवा करने वाला था। वह सदा यज्ञ, तप आदि किया करता था। अपनी इसी भक्ति के प्रभाव से वह स्वर्ग में देवेन्द्र के स्थान पर राज्य करने लगा। देवराज इन्द्र तथा अन्य देवता इस बात को सहन नहीं कर सके और भगवान श्रीहरि के पास जाकर प्रार्थना करने लगे। अन्त में मैंने वामन रूप धारण किया और तेजस्वी ब्राह्मण बालक के रूप में राजा बलि पर विजय प्राप्त की।“” यह सुनकर अर्जुन ने कहा – “”हे लीलापति! आपने वामन रूप धारण करके उस बलि को किस प्रकार जीता, कृपा कर यह सब विस्तारपूर्वक बताइये।’
भगवान विष्णु जी का सबसे बढ़िया भजन: हर साँस में हो सुमिरन तेरा
भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा – “”मैंने वामन रूप धारण करके राजा बलि से याचना की- हे राजन! तुम मुझे तीन पग भूमि दान दे दो, इससे तुम्हें तीन लोक के दान का फल प्राप्त होगा।
राजा बलि ने इस छोटी-सी याचना को स्वीकार कर लिया और भूमि देने को तैयार हो गया। जब उसने मुझे वचन दे दिया, तब मैंने अपना आकार बढ़ाया और भूलोक में पैर, भुवन लोक में जंघा, स्वर्ग लोक में कमर, महलोक में पेट, जनलोक में हृदय, तपलोक में कण्ठ और सत्यलोक में मुख रखकर अपने शीर्ष को ऊँचा उठा लिया। उस समय सूर्य, नक्षत्र, इन्द्र तथा अन्य देवता मेरी स्तुति करने लगे। तब मैंने राजा बलि से पूछा कि हे राजन! अब मैं तीसरा पग कहाँ रखूँ। इतना सुनकर राजा बलि ने अपना शीर्ष नीचे कर लिया।
तब मैंने अपना तीसरा पग उसके शीर्ष पर रख दिया और इस प्रकार देवताओं के हित के लिए मैंने अपने उस असुर भक्त को पाताल लोक में पहुँचा दिया तब वह मुझसे विनती करने लगा।
मन को मोह लेने वाला भजन: रट ले हरी का नाम
मैने उससे कहा कि हे बलि! मैं सदैव तुम्हारे साथ रहूँगा।
भादों के शुक्ल पक्ष की परिवर्तिनी नामक एकादशी के दिन मेरी एक प्रतिमा राजा बलि के पास रहती है और एक क्षीर सागर में शेषनाग पर शयन करती रहती है।’
इस एकादशी को विष्णु भगवान सोते हुए करवट बदलते हैं।
इस दिन त्रिलोकी-नाथ श्री विष्णु भगवान की पूजा की जाती है। इसमें चावल और दही सहित चाँदी का दान दिया जाता है। इस दिन रात्रि को जागरण करना चाहिये।
इस प्रकार उपवास करने से मनुष्य सभी पापों से मुक्त होकर स्वर्ग लोक को जाता है। जो मनुष्य पापों को नष्ट करने वाली इस एकादशी व्रत की कथा सुनते हैं, उन्हें अश्वमेध यज्ञ के फल की प्राप्ति होती है।

कथा-सार
दान करने के उपरान्त मनुष्य को अभिमान नहीं करना चाहिये। राजा बलि ने अभिमान किया और पाताल को चला गया। इससे इस बात का भी बोध होता है कि अति हर कार्य की बुरी होती है।”
Parivartini Ekadashi Vrat Katha
Pandunandan Arjun said – “” Oh Lord! What is the name of the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadon and what is the rule of its Vat? What fruit is obtained by fasting on that Ekadashi. Hey Krishna! Please explain all this and say.
Lord Vishnu Ji Aarti: Om Jai Jagdish Hare
Shri Krishna said – “” Hey Partha! Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month is also known as Jayanti Ekadashi. Just by listening to the story of this Ekadashi, all sins are absolved and man becomes entitled to heaven. Even the lowly sinners are saved by the story of this Jayanti Ekadashi. If a pious person worships me on the day of Ekadashi, then I give him the fruits of worship of the world. The person who worships me, he gets my world. There is not even an iota of doubt about it. The person who worships Lord Shrivaman on this Ekadashi worships all the three Gods i.e. Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh. Hey Partha! The people who fast on this Ekadashi, nothing remains to be done in this world. Lord Vishnu changes sides on this Ekadashi, hence it is also called Parivartini Ekadashi.
Sweetest Bhajan of Lord Vishnu: Om Jai Jagdish
Surprised to hear this, Arjuna said – “”O Janardan! After listening to your words, I am confused that how do you sleep and change sides? Why did you tie the Bali and what pastimes did you perform by assuming the form of Vamana? What is the law of Chaturmasya fast and what is the duty of a man when you sleep, please tell in detail.’
Lord Shri Krishna said – “”O son of Kunti, Arjuna! Now listen carefully to this story which removes all sins. In Tretayuga, there was a demon named Bali. He was very devout, charitable, truthful and serving Brahmins. He always used to do yagya, penance etc. Due to the effect of his devotion, he started ruling in place of Devendra in heaven. Devraj Indra and other gods could not tolerate this and started praying to Lord Sri Hari. At last I took the form of Vamana and conquered King Bali in the form of a bright Brahmin boy.” Hearing this, Arjuna said – “O Leelapati! Please tell in detail how you won that sacrifice by assuming the form of Vamana.
Best Bhajan of Lord Vishnu: Har Saans Me Ho Sumiran Tera
Lord Krishna said – “” I begged King Bali in the form of Vamana – O king! You donate three steps of land to me, by this you will get the fruit of the donation of three worlds.
King Bali accepted this small request and agreed to give the land. When he promised me, I increased my size and raised my head by placing my feet in Bhuloka, thigh in Bhuvan Lok, waist in Swarga Lok, abdomen in Mahaloka, heart in Janaloka, throat in Taploka and mouth in Satyaloka. At that time the Sun, the constellations, Indra and other gods started praising me. Then I asked King Bali, O king! Now where do I put the third step? Hearing this, King Bali lowered his head.
Then I put my third step on its top and in this way for the benefit of the gods, I took that demon devotee of mine to Patal Lok, then he started pleading with me.

I told him that O Bali! I will always be with you.
On the day of Ekadashi called Parivartini of Shukla Paksha of Bhadon, one of my idols stays with King Bali and keeps sleeping on Sheshnag in a milky ocean.’
On this Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu changes his side while sleeping.
Lord Triloki-Nath Shri Vishnu is worshiped on this day. Silver is donated along with rice and curd in this. Jagran should be done on this day and night.
By fasting in this way, a man becomes free from all sins and goes to heaven. Those who listen to the story of this Ekadashi fast which destroys sins, they get the fruits of Ashwamedha Yagya.
