Promotional efforts did not go according to plan for Code Name: Tiranga. With only Rs. 0.15 crores coming in, it began to seem that this would be another failure story. The film lacked any significant buzz ahead of release and there was no mention of the movie outside of Twitter, either – even with an actress like Parineeti Chopra on board! This meant that interest levels were low going into release day, but thankfully a promo video had been carefully crafted that garnered an impressive reaction from those who watched it; giving them hope for what could come next.
None of that happened, however. There were no reviews or public responses at all when the trailer first came out and everyone was completely silent. It seemed as if they just wanted to focus on other releases instead, so when it finally did come out people were confused because there were barely any ads about the movie being released whatsoever. With a lack of publicity in general, due to people not knowing about the release date or anything – it meant that this movie wasn’t going to do anything well- like sell tickets and make money; which reflects poorly on them because you can’t generate word of mouth without having something worth talking about first.
This must be heartbreaking indeed for Parineeti Chopra since the actress was on a high after last year’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Saina and The Girl On The Train – all of which had fetched her good critical acclaim. She has done well in Code Name: Tiranga too but unfortunately, audiences will see her again on the small screen only for this film.
