Panga noticed a significant decline in collections as only Rs. 1.65 crore had been collected on Monday. Considering the fact that Friday was lower than usual at 2.7 crores, it wasn’t what they were expecting. To make matters worse, they needed to maintain at least Friday levels during the weekdays which would have afforded them an additional 10 crore before the second weekend began; but it turns out that wasn’t possible.
So far, the movie has collected around Rs. 16.56 crores and it will probably end up at about Rs. 20 crores for its opening week. This would usually be what you’d expect from an Ashwiy Iyer Tiwary film- a good one at that- but there were too many other factors at play when Street Dancer 3D released along side it last Friday night; making it difficult to really assess just how well it did at the box office this past weekend.
Nonetheless, one should expect the film to find better traction on the digital platform. Films of such genre are usually appreciated when they’re screened on smaller screens and with Panga having been praised so far for its content, it’s likely that people will watch it online. Yet, the theatre won’t do well either.
