As we near the end of the month, we are getting ever closer to the 200 crore club. With Rs. 4.23 crores being made this weekend and bringing up the total revenue to 197.36 crores, things seem promising for Mission Mangal – which has steadily maintained its position at the box office after four weeks running.
Though it was not performing well among class audiences (who were preferring Chhichhore), Mission Mangal saw a major turnout from rural markets that thrive on Saaho-type thrillers and action sequences; so there is reason enough to hope that Mission Mangal will be able to attain success after all!
It was now time to reach the goal- Mission Mangal needed to gain more than Rs. 200 Crore; if not, it would not be recognized among India’s top earning films. There were two other movies that had come so close to reaching over 201 Cr – one being ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ starring Salman Khan (who came out on top), and another featuring Akshay Kumar called ‘Airlift’. Thankfully for Akshay Kumar, he wouldn’t have to worry about falling short of his goal- Mission Mangal still had enough time left in order to make up the rest of the money needed.
