The Fawad Khan starrer The Legend of Maula Jatt hit screens a while back and has remained undefeated at the box office. Contrary to popular belief, Pakistani Punjabi-language action-drama film created and written by Bilal Lashari remains unparalleled even after newer films stormed through theatres nationwide. It’s now among the longest running Pakistani films but still manages to claim its throne as one of the costliest production from Pakistan yet, eventually achieving what may just be another record breaker of success for today’s cinema.
Now just over three months since its release in October 2022, the film has managed to break past the Rs. 200 crore mark at the worldwide box office. The latest reports show that it earned an impressive Rs. 20 crores domestically and an additional mammoth Rs. 120 crores from the international market. This means that despite being a Pakistani movie, it has broken barriers and generated up to an astonishing Rs. 220 crore – unprecedented numbers never before seen by another Pakistani release yet! And interestingly enough, these records will probably only keep increasing when The Legend of Maula Jatt continues to do well domestically and internationally alike; if this trend keeps up, then there’s no doubt about it: Pakistan might be generating some huge waves soon enough!
