Despite the presence of major competitors such as Dabangg 3 and audiences awaiting another anticipated film, people still showed interest in holdovers such as Mardaani 2 and Pati patni aur woh.
Mardaani 2 continues to do well, raking in Rs. 2.55 crores yesterday (Sunday). This Ranvi Mukherjee starrer has been performing the best at cinemas that are located in metropolises; specifically, these performances come from urban audiences who are predominately from upper-middle class backgrounds – this is where Mardaani 2 collects its highest earnings too. Currently, Mardaani 2 stands at a collection of Rs. 33.70 crores and hopes for an average of Rs. 1 crore per day over the course of the week- to put it simply: It’s doing pretty good!
Ditto for Pati Patni aur Woh which brought in Rs. 2 crores* more on Sunday. With this, the Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday starrer has gone past the Rs. 80 crores milestone. Personally for Kartik Aaryan – even if he is already happy about his film being a big hit – there are still regrets to be had because it will never reach the Rs. 100 Crore Club like some others that have come before him have done so before him or after him (Luka Chuppi).
