It was always expected that Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 2 would open at the opening day’s box office in the range of Rs.3-4 crores. This is what happened as the film took a start of Rs. 3.80 crores on its opening day – which is still early enough for films like these to make up for it with good word-of-mouth reviews about them.
A multimillion-dollar production starring Rani Mukerji, the film took a solid first step towards success by collecting $3.4 million in its opening day. However, given the modest promotion and marketing efforts for such an expensive project, it seems unlikely that this will turn out to be anything more than moderately successful at best.
The good news is that critics love it and the reports are overwhelmingly positive; this all points towards a bright future for our film. The opening weekend should cross over Rs. 15 crores without a problem, but from then on we’ll need to watch out because Dabangg 3 will arrive next Friday and it will take up most of the screens.
