On the heels of the second COVID-19 pandemic India was hit much harder than it had been during the first wave in 2020. In order to keep from fueling its growth, most businesses were shut down and cinemas closed for business; but one man refused to let this hold him back. Salman Khan, while filming his own blockbuster movie, chose not to postpone its release date on Friday May 13th despite protestations from family members and crew who argued that conditions would be unsafe for both him and filmgoers alike.
King of the silver screen Salman Khan sets records for smashing ticket sales after each successive blockbuster release. With Radhe being out during this critical season where cinemas across India remain closed; many predict disastrous returns. The maximum ticket revenues will be coming from Baadshaho, speculated one anonymous distributor to The Times of India, Radhe might not even cross 15 crores.
Some people were waiting eagerly for Baadshaho and now they’ve been beaten by life. Well, my heart breaks too. Most distributors expect losses on the film which has already clocked up expenses thanks to its ambitious shoot schedule across several locations in Europe; while many know that another year later, profits won’t be forthcoming from Salman’s latest project. But all fear giving up this chance to capture such a unique story: chasing profit margins as other projects wait in limbo.
Things were shaky at the beginning of the year when a superstar promised an eventual theatrical release for his new film. When things didn’t turn out as planned and another wave of the pandemic struck – it was devastating to say the least. Surprisingly enough though, people still wanted to see the film; they just had nowhere else to do so. Despite all that there was no stopping Shahrukh Khan from playing his part in getting this movie out there so he went ahead with making arrangements for distributing DVDs via partner outlets. The discs would be screened through social media sites for two weeks starting October 24th before going on sale digitally on November 1st.
Now, in times of hardship where people are suffering and death tolls continue to rise – not just from terrorism but also the lack of basic necessities-comes the release for relief. Why would anyone willingly choose to spend an unnecessary amount on a mere film? Instead, we’re providing you with an opportunity to experience what entertainment should be by granting access at such low costs. During these difficult times where there is so much destruction and sorrow; people deserve to find relief no matter what form that may take. For those still grieving, they can escape reality and watch Radhe despite its terrible reviews. And for everyone else who needs a momentary distraction from all this chaos -watching Radhe will do just fine!
