Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey, premiered on Friday, but it hasn’t been well-received by the audience despite its intensive promotion. Similarly, at the box office Liger has had a turbulent time; some areas have shown progress with daily growth in profits whereas other regions have observed a gradual decline.
With this report, we are assessing the success of Liger in Australia and New Zealand. Unfortunately, its second day takings saw a decrease of 61%. Surprisingly though, it did accumulate an impressive USD 15,156 [Rs. 12.12 lakhs] from just 55 screens on Saturday. Unsurprisingly however, this revenue took yet another hit with an additional 30% drop from the second-day performance.
Overseas, in New Zealand, the success of Liger has been rising slowly. It had grossed USD 3,307 [Rs. 2.64 lakhs] and USD 4,573 [Rs. 3.65 lakhs] on its opening two days and proceeded to see even greater profits with a 45% rise since the second day when USD 6,663 [Rs. 5.32 lakhs] was earned from 23 theatres across the country on day three.
Going forward, with the audience remaining undecided about Liger, the business of the film will continue to remain in flux. While certain markets are expected to see further growth, in others the film will face a tough time. However, trade remains optimistic stating that Liger will manage to post good box office collection figures over its opening weekend.
