As per estimations, Liger (Hindi) had a remarkable decline in its fourth–day collections to about Rs. 1 crore, varying from Rs. 90 lakhs to Rs. 1.30 crores. Not only has the Vijay Deverakonda starrer experienced an extensive decrease everywhere, but it has also been marked as a disaster in Hindi regions due to the unfavourable reviews among viewers.
From the start, the writing was clear on the wall in South Indian territories; however, it seemed to hold its ground and display some promise in Hindi-speaking regions. Unfortunately, those prospects soon faded when collections dropped on day four. To date, Liger’s total earnings have come up to around Rs 15 crore with projections of capping out at a sum close to Rs 20 crores once it ends its run at cinemas.
Standing alone, the earnings of Liger match up to those of some major Hindi box office flops headlined by Bollywood A–listers such as Jersey and Jayeshbhai Jordaar, starring Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh respectively. The same can be expected in the Hindi markets.
This movie has been a huge setback in the South, causing its distributors to incur losses in excess of Rs. 50 crores, while it barely made an impact in the Hindi territories. As for foreign markets, its performance was absolutely disastrous as well, with estimated losses worldwide exceeding Rs. 60 crores – putting it amongst one of the worst–performing movies of this year.
